The Film Critique

  • Part 1--Notes during the movie using these categories: Storyline, Screenplay, Acting, Special Effects, Music, Costumes, Set Design/Setting, Cinematography
  • Part 2--Rough Draft completion
    • You will need to use your notes to complete this
    • Choose 3 of the 8 categories that interest you the most or you have the strongest feelings about (it makes writing easier)
    • Fill in the ENTIRE Rough Draft form
      • You can get information about the actors at www.imdb.com
    • Bring your completed notes and rough draft to Mrs. Ferris for approval and instructions on Part 3 (the final part)
  • Part 3--Write your essay. Using the rough draft form, the What About Bob example, your notes and your english skills, complete the required 5 paragraph essay. All requirements are on the Rubric on the back of the rough draft
    • Essays need to be typed, 12 pt, double spaced
    • Notes and Rough Drafts need to be turned into me
    • Essays need to be emailed to ferrer01@southredford.net
      • DO NOT PRINT THEM


Assignment 1:

  • What is your Favorite movie (the one you can watch over and over again)?
  • What makes this movie your favorite (be specific, 2-3 sentences)
  • What is your Least favorite movie (the one you cringe if someone suggests)?
  • What makes it your least favorite?

Go to www.rottentomatoes.com or http://www.imdb.com/ and see what people say/said about your favorite movie and your least favorite movie. Tell the ratings they got and any other important facts

Email this to Mrs. Ferris. She will email you back with what to do next

  • Today is about getting notes done.
  • First--Review this document (it will ONLY open if you are in CHROME).You are ONLY going to look at it, you are NOT going to take notes on these yet. Make sure you check them out.

    • Read Three Film Reviews on imdb.com or rottentomatoes.com (this can be 3 reviews about the same movie or 1 review about 3 different movies)--These reviews are written by real people. When reading them think about how they are describing things and what they are saying. Does the way the review the film impress you or what?
